Board of Directors Update – June 26, 2026

Thank you to everyone who attended and participated in the 2026 SPPA Annual General Meeting on June 20 at the Association Clubhouse.

Members approved the 2025–26 reviewed financial statements, ratified the 2026–27 budget, confirmed Board proceedings since the last AGM, and acclaimed two new Directors: Derrick Monk and Remo Assini. The meeting also recognized and thanked retiring Directors Gary Jennison and Sue Edgar for their service to SPPA.

A significant portion of the meeting focused on the 2026–27 budget, including the approved 17% dues increase. The Board acknowledged member questions and concerns, and explained that the increase was needed to support predictable revenue, rising operating costs, property maintenance, reserve planning, and strategic priorities.

Members also discussed the Sun Beach Ambassador Program, laneway monitoring, and the Condo Control access system. The Board committed to reviewing the Ambassador and laneway program at the July 20 Board meeting, considering member feedback and the interests of the greater community, and sharing a season-end utilization report with members in the fall.

The President’s Report highlighted SPPA’s ongoing transition to stronger governance, better planning, improved communications, financial stewardship, privacy practices, property records, environmental stewardship, and long-term asset planning. Key priorities for the year ahead include capital reserve planning, improved electronic systems, a Privacy Policy and Practices program, property management improvements, and consideration of a Clubhouse Revitalization Special Committee.
