Board of Director’s Update – Feb. 20, 2026
The SPPA Board of Directors gathered earlier this week for its monthly meeting. The team spent much of its time together reviewing Committee budget proposals supporting plans for the upcoming season and working through some practical improvements to how the community runs day-to-day.
One change we hope to implement this summer is the move to electronic beach passes. These would replace the plastic passes and will make beach access quicker and more consistent during busy periods, while also cutting down on lost or forgotten passes. Also as part of our goal of improving Member Experience at Sun Beach, we will also be trialing beach grooming equipment before committing to purchase, and reviewing how bikes, storage and general flow work at the beach so peak-time congestion is easier to manage.
Behind the scenes, a number of ongoing items continue to move forward. Work is progressing to resolve some outstanding matters affecting certain common properties, and early studies have begun about longer-term amenity considerations at Sun Beach. The Board is also expanding the use of short surveys to guide smaller decisions and reviewing clubhouse rental practices so the space can be used more effectively by both members and the broader community.
The annual Nominations Committee has now been formed under Past-President Sue Edgar’s leadership. Three Board seats (three-year terms) are open this year, and members interested in learning more about contributing to our five-year plan Protecting Our Value, Enhancing Our Experience through strategy, governance and risk management activities during these exciting times are encouraged to reach out to Sue at info@southcottpines.net.
The Association’s insurance review is nearing completion with requests for quotations now in progress, and the Board will consider approval of the 2026/27 operating budget at its regular meeting on March 16.
As always, this time of year is largely about preparation — testing ideas, gathering information, and making sure we are ready before the busy season arrives.
