The Environmental Stewardship Committee Update – August 7, 2026

It has been a busy few weeks for our Environmental Stewardship Committee as we continue our work to protect and enhance the natural beauty of Southcott Pines.

In July, we partnered with the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA) to host a group of 10 local high school student volunteers. Together, we planted 100 native plants throughout Southcott Pines, helping to improve habitat, strengthen biodiversity, and support the long-term health of our local ecosystem.

We also welcomed another group of students who explored the Old Ausable Channel by canoe as part of an environmental learning experience. These hands-on opportunities help connect young people with our unique natural environment while teaching the importance of watershed stewardship and conservation.

We were also pleased to see our environmental stewardship efforts recognized in a recent news article highlighting work to protect and restore the Old Ausable Channel and surrounding natural areas.
