Noise

We ask that all members, visitors, and renters in Southcott Pines, be considerate of their neighbours.

“Members, guests, and renters are requested not to use equipment such as lawnmowers, leaf blowers, chain saws, or power washers as to create a nuisance by way of noise (1) any time on Sunday, and (2) anytime between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. on any other day. “ Excerpt from the Southcott Pines – Property Owner’s Policy

 

Lambton Shores Noise By-Law

The Municipality of Lambton Shores enacted an amended Noise bylaw in 2017- BY-LAW 30 OF 2002 which applies to Southcott Pines Park Association (SPPA) residents.

Part 1 – NOISES – PROHIBITED is the section that apply most directly to SPPA residents are noted below:

Section 1 of Part 1: Likely to Disturb – Unusual – Prohibited

“No person shall make or cause, or permit to be made or caused, any noise or sound which disturbs or tends to disturb the quiet, peace, rest, enjoyment, comfort or convenience of any inhabitant or person.”

Section 1.4 of Part 1 Residential Properties

  1. Plainly audible noise, between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. is prohibited
  2. Noises created by any of the means noted in 1.4 (a) that is audible more than 25 feet from the property line is prohibited during the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

Section 1.11 of Part 1 — Power Equipment – use – 8:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.

“Prohibited between 8:00 p.m. of any day and 7:00 a.m. of the next following day.”

 

Should a Resident have a Noise or other By-Law complaint follow this three (3) step process:

1) Call By-law office 519-238-5246 leave a message if sent to voicemail. If By-law hasn’t responded within a reasonable amount of time, consider Step 2.

2) Call Non-Emergency OPP – 1-888-310-1122

3) Inform Southcott Pines Park Association for tracking purposes:
Once the caller has left the information with the municipality and/or the police leave the same info with SPPA (either voicemail or email)

The caller may remain anonymous but must leave particulars, as to the infraction e.g. property address, parties involved, time, date, nature of the offence and any other pertinent info.
